From Blu Sky studios, the creative team behind “Ice Age” comes an adventure set in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. Like the city itself, the film is colorful, rhythmic, fun and full of exotic characters. The story centers around a macaw parrot named Blu ( Jesse Eisenberg) who never learned to fly and loves the comforts of the human world. His owner Linda (Leslie Mann) adores him and they are pretty much inseparable. Until they learn a little scientific fact that forces both of them to journey to Rio and their life is turned upside down. It is here where Blu meets the female counter part of his species, a beautiful macaw named Jewel (Anne Hathaway). The both but-heads from the get-go and for good reason too. Both are worth a pretty penny and find themselves captured by a trio of bird napping crooks. They finally make their escape and this is where all the fun begins. They encounter a host of crazy characters that assist them on their journey and some that try to stop them. There are too many to mention but the voice cast is excellent, everyone from Jamie Foxx to George Lopez. The artists bring the city to life with gorgeous animation and vibrant colors and sounds. The songs also complement the visuals perfectly. And Like all great animated stories, this film also has heart, it will move you. It does drag a little bit and it’s not quite as good as a Pixar film, but it’s definitely a fun time at the movies for kids and adults alike. Go see it!!
