This origin story is an excellent example of how to make a film of this genre the right way. It starts with a great script, and casts intense actors like James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender. Since the film relies on four previous films, and presents something new while connecting the audience with old yet familiar characters, there are so many things that could’ve gone wrong with a film like this. It doesn’t though...in fact it gets everything right! The film opens with a familiar scene in Poland 1944 as the first film did. This time it tells us the origins of the two mutants that started it all...Professor Xavior and Magneto. There are also some wonderful new additions making up the “First Class” of the “X-Men” world and an unforgettable cameo by one of my favorite characters, which was a delightful surprise. Most of the film takes place in the 60’s during the “Cuban Missile Crises” and the story is woven into this period in history with grace and creativity. A few weeks ago, “Thor” hit theaters and I thought it was one of the best superhero films. This film is even better....a must see!!
