Graeme and Clive are two comic book fan boys from UK who embark on a fantastic journey through the South West, which I like to call the UFO belt. This concept alone is enough for a fun, exciting movie, but add in an alien voiced by Seth Rogen, and Bible thumping virgin played by Kristen Wiig and “Paul” becomes a hilarious, wild ride. Yes the story is a bit out there but it does a good job of tying up all the loose ends. There are many alien probing jokes and I love the fact that it makes sense out of many other alien movies from the past. It’s a well fleshed out film with characters just kooky enough, that they don’t lose their sensibilities. It’s also a story of two best friends played by Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, who apparently also wrote this film. Their chemistry is great and their relationship is also the heart of this film. Jason Bateman and Sigourney Weaver round out the cast as the mysterious agents in pursuit of “Paul”. For me Kristen Wiig steals every scene she is in. She is fantastic in every role and brings quirkiness in a way only she can. This is not a kids movie, there is swearing left and right, and a lot of inappropriate alien behavior, so do not take your little ones. If you’re in the mood for an off-beat, fun, crazy comedy , check out “Paul”. I love this movie, a must see!!
